My name is Dr. Juvenal Tegeda George (he/him/his). I am a bicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois.

I am the founder and owner of George Psychology, PLLC, which opened in November 2021 to help improve the mental health and wellness of the underrepresented and marginalized individual and communities in Illinois.

I identify as a cisgender, heterosexual, able-bodied male of Mexican American descent. As a first-generation Latino in the United States and eldest in my family, I dealt with many societal and personal obstacles in my journey towards becoming a psychologist. These same obstacles have made me more resilient, humble, wiser, and thus allowing me the opportunity to help others address these same structural and systematic barriers towards living a more meaningful life.

I completed by undergraduate studies at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology. I then received my Master of Arts (M.A.) in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Adler School of Professional Psychology (now Adler University) in Chicago, Illinois.

I have 17-years of professional and personal experience working with adolescents, young adults, college students, families, and incarcerated populations, and professionals of culturally diverse backgrounds and of various clinical and life problems. I specialize in the prevention, management, and treatment of anxiety disorders, depression and mood concerns, stress and trauma, cultural identity and acculturation issues, college distress, career stressors, men’s issues, and life transitions/adjustments.

In addition to my private practice, I am also a staff psychologist at the University of Illinois Counseling Center where I work with a diverse student population of undergraduate and graduate students struggling with academic, social, and numerous other life stressors. I provide individual and group counseling, specialized assessments, consultation and prevention support, outreach presentations on mental health topics, and supervision and training.

I consider myself a socially responsible practitioner who incorporates culturally affirming perspectives into my practice with clients and in my clinical supervision with supervisees. I have been trained in the use of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care practices, client-centered and mindfulness-based approaches. I am bilingual and offer individual therapy and consultation services in English and Spanish.

On my free time, I find restoration in nature and enjoy going on long hikes with my family. I am a loyal follower of the game of soccer, both as a player and a coach. I enjoy taking care of my vegetable and bonsai gardens in the presence of my three beautiful daughters.
